The Designer
Design that begins with a question, not an answer.
DecoCooly was started by a single designer who had grown tired of objects that looked good in a photograph and felt inert in a room. The question was direct: what does it take for a small decorative object to hold its own — not just on launch day, but five years later, after it has been moved and repositioned and cleaned and moved again?
The answer turned out to involve material, proportion, and restraint. Geometry drawn and redrawn until the proportions stopped looking designed and started looking right. And a deliberate refusal to add surface ornamentation that time would make look dated.
Every object in the collection is handmade in a small workshop in Central Europe. The production is slow by choice. Each piece is cast, finished, and checked by hand before it leaves.
What We Believe
The Principles.
Function earns decoration the right to exist.
An object that does nothing is a harder argument to make. Every DecoCooly piece holds something, tells time, or anchors a surface. The function is not its point — but it is its justification.
Geometry ages better than ornament.
Trends arrive in surface decoration. They are also where they leave. The geometry underneath is what remains. Our objects are designed to look as resolved in a decade as they do the day they arrive.
Small production is not a limitation.
It is the condition under which quality is possible. Hand-finishing takes time. Mold inspection takes time. These are not inefficiencies in the process. They are the process.
